Hunger Games: It’s Happening People.

By Britt Harvey

March 23rd people.

What’s that you say? You don’t KNOW what’s happening on March 23rd? Well let me explain it to you.

On March 23rd, a movie comes out. And not just any movie. THE movie. The Hunger Games.

A little film about a kick ass heroine in a cruel dystopian world that has to fight to the death, TO THE DEATH, in order to survive help her family/district.

Of course I’m talking about Katniss Everdeen. One of the most interesting female characters to come out in the fantasy genre/science fiction/dystopian genre in a while (okay there’s Hermione Granger and Daenerys Targaryen but both grew into their powers, Katniss was a bad ass from the start).

For those of you who haven’t read the book I won’t spoil it for you. Suffice to say that this movie is only the first of many, as there are three books and apparently there will be four movies (you do the math).

Katniss is played by Jennifer Lawrence, who was nominated for an Oscar for her brilliant portrayal of another strong woman looking out for her mother/siblings in Winter’s Bone.

I REALLY hope they get this right. But regardless, myself and many others will be lining up to see the movie manifestation of what was really a violent, fascinating, and complex story of survival, politics, revolution and love.

So yeah, I liked the books.
